Application Management provides customers with the
knowledge to determine the infrastructure and operational
readiness to adopt an application solution. Application
Management addresses the resources, processes, and technologies
required to adopt this solution. Our services in this
area include:

MRK has the certified resources and skill set to either
assume full responsibility for a project or "augment"
a client's staff; taking on more of a lead engineering
role that manages the overall project and provides direction
to the client's engineering staff.
MRK is able to provide its clients with a high availability
application monitoring and recovery solution using BMC
Software's PATROL product line. The PATROL product line
allows companies to further protect their software investments
by offering the following functionality:
- Application Management - Availability, Capacity,
Performance, and Recover.
- Performance Management - Analyze historical
and real-time performance data - workload monitoring
and reporting.
- Predictive Modeling - Workload balancing,
future capacity planning and modeling, ongoing performance
analysis.
- Diagnostic Management - Real-time analysis
to determine root cause of problems.
BMC Software has worked extensively with each software
manufacturer to develop "Knowledge Modules" for monitoring
many of the major applications found in today's environments,
including SAP R/3, PeopleSoft, Oracle databases, Tuxedo,
Lotus Notes/Domino, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Windows
NT/2000, and all major flavors of UNIX.

With an ever-increasing number of users gaining access
to your networked environment, the amount of applications
that users access continue to increase. Application
management and distribution solutions continue to be
key areas of focus for companies. Today, there are several
solutions that are able to meet company needs and reduce
the total cost of ownership.
MRK is able to provide its clients with an application
distribution solution that allows for "native"
installations of Windows-based desktop operating systems
and applications. By using CCM as your desktop application
distribution mechanism, each workstation is not built
from a "snapshot" view but from an original
or native install that is created from the ground up.
Clients will be able to eliminate the use of desktop
images that are large in size and do not always reflect
a true desktop installation that would normally occur
if using diskettes or a setup CD. A few of the benefits
of using the On-Technology CCM product are listed below:
- Operating Systems - Native desktop installations
of Windows 2000, 2003 and XP.
- System Bios - Upgrades of desktop system
BIOS without user intervention.
- Scheduling - Automated scheduling of an operating
system or application distribution to the desktop
with additional Wake-on-LAN technology.
- DevStudio - Add on product that allows you
to develop applications for distribution.
- Inventory - Detailed workstation reports.
- Remote Control - The ability to support a
user's desktop remotely with low overhead requirements.

With an ever-increasing number of users gaining access
to your networked environment, ensuring that the file
servers stay online is a top priority. File server management
not only involves receiving alerts and troubleshooting
issues, but maintains server up time. While administrators
and support staff are able to receive alerts concerning
server activity through products like ManageWise or
SMS, troubleshooting server abends or crashes remains
an issue. Problem resolution after a server abend or
failure requires that the technician obtain as much
information about the crash as possible. Even after
the information is gathered, it is still unlikely that
the technician will be able to get to the root cause
of the problem due to the lack of proper tools, experience,
or having the necessary time for root-cause analysis.

The directory services arena continues to heat up with
Microsoft's release of Windows 2000. Microsoft believes
its Active Directory Services (ADS) is the answer to
Novell Directory Services (NDS), but is it? Companies
need to understand the difference in the two products
and what the overall cost is to migrate from one operating
system to the other. Advances in the directory services
arena are allowing companies to create a heterogeneous
network no matter what the size, while keeping management
costs in check.
Today, migrating or upgrading your Network Operating
System (NOS) requires a significant amount of planning
and analysis in order for a successful implementation.
MRK can provide the expertise needed for analyzing,
designing, implementing, and standardizing your network
environment.
